Celebrate the Harvest Season at Dana Point Harbor

(Dana Point, Calif.) – The County of Orange, OC Parks and Dana Point Harbor invite the community to celebrate the harvest season on land and at sea this October. From ghostly ocean adventures to seaside treasure hunts, Dana Point Harbor offers visitors of all ages the chance to experience frighteningly fun activities, shopping and dining.

“The Halloween season is here and it’s a wonderful time to visit the harbor,” Dana Point Harbor Manager Shannon Levin said. “We’re thrilled to be celebrating the 45th anniversary of Wind & Sea Restaurant this month, as well as offering Halloween themed boat rides, tricks and treats throughout the harbor.”

Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching will host the charitable Boo Cruise on October 20 that features a costume contest, raffles and surprise entertainment for visitors on land and at sea. Cruises set sail at 5 p.m. and depart every 20 minutes until 7 p.m.; tickets are $5 per person. All funds raised will go directly to the Special Fishies: Aquatic Freedom and Education organization that provides scholarships to children with special needs in the community.

Wind & Sea Restaurant will celebrate its 45th anniversary from October 22 through 25. For three days and nights, Wind & Sea will offer special selections from their 1972 menu at opening night prices, including select entrees and side dishes. Throwback prices meet delicious food for this landmark anniversary.

The Ocean Institute’s Spooky Seas offers two nights full of fright and Halloween fun on October 27 and 28 from 6 to 9 p.m.Visitors ages 8 and older can embark on a haunted adventure aboard the brig Pilgrim, through the historic Boathouse and into the Mad Scientist lab. Visitors can also enjoy hot cocoa and educational activities in the Ocean Education Center. Tickets are $10 for adults ages 15 and over; $7 for children ages 8 to14.

Enjoy Halloween treats from Chocolate Soldier, where locally handmade chocolates and beautifully decorated Day of the Dead chocolate skulls will be available. Treasure hunters are encouraged to locate a green spider within the shop to receive a free spider-themed treat in return.

Woody Hut will offer “No Tricks, Only Treats” during the month of October, when customers receive a gift with purchase by mentioning “trick or treat” at checkout.
