Golden Foodie Awards Announces Next Golden Chef Competition Call for Entries

The Golden Foodie Awards is pleased to announce a call for entries to the 2012 Next Golden Chef Competition. Young aspiring chefs currently enrolled in or a graduate of high school and at least 16 years of age with less than 6 months of restaurant back-of-the-house experience are welcome to submit entries. The first place winner will earn up to a $25,000 scholarship to attend The Art Institute of California – Orange County.

The Next Golden Chef Competition challenges entrants to submit their favorite recipe in standardized recipe format yielding 4 servings. The recipe must be able to be prepared from “mise en place” within two hours. Entrants must also complete online competition and release forms at http://goldenfoodieawards.com/nextgoldenchef and submit a statement (500 words or less) detailing why they desire to become the Next Golden Chef or be part of the culinary industry. All submissions must be received via mail or email by June 8, 2012.

A panel of celebrity and well-renowned chefs and industry professionals to select the winner will judge each Golden Chef Competition recipe. The panel of chef’s will include:

Semi-finalists will be notified on or before June 18, 2012. Entrants continuing on in the competition must be present at the Next Golden Chef Cook-Off event at The Art Institute of California – Orange County on June 23, where they will prepare the recipe submitted to the competition. A panel of top chefs, food critics andculinary industry professionals will judge the live competition. Directly after the cook-off the top 3 finalists will then move to the “Mystery Basket” round of the competition to decide the winner.  The winner of the Next Golden Chef and the competition finalists will be announced on September 30 at the Golden Foodie Awards in Newport Beach. The winner of the competition will receive a $25,000 scholarship to The Art Institute of California – Orange County.
