A Unique Opportunity to Experience the Protected Open Space
In celebration of National Trails Days, Irvine Ranch Conservancy and OC Parks are pleased to welcome the public to experience the magnificent Limestone Canyon at Wilderness Access Day on Saturday, June 2. Attendees will enjoy self-guided access, hiking, biking and equestrian use on designated trails from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Limestone Canyon trail routes will vary in distance and level of difficulty ranging from an easy one-hour walk to an adventurous 15-mile cardio hike. Visitors will be able to view “The Sinks,” coined Orange County’s mini Grand Canyon, in a 10.5-mile round trip hike over moderate terrain. The recently introduced Shoestring Trail loop will be accessible and is approximately 5 miles with a steep elevation gain.
Those interested in attending the Wilderness Access Day are able to register on-site day of the event at the Augustine Canyon Staging Area or online at http://www.irlandmarks.org/activities/ . Online pre-registration is recommended. Participants are asked to stay ondesignated trails at all times as the habitat is rare, sensitive and under strict protection. Join us for this unique opportunity to experience some of the most pristine and undisturbed land in the county.
