The ACE Agency Acquires OC Music Awards




Santa Ana based public relations firm, The ACE Agency, today announced that it is acquiring ownership of Orange County’s premier annual music event, OC Music Awards.


The ACE Agency is acquiring the event from Producer, Luke Allen, owner of Orange County rehearsal studios, Gemini Studios, and his father Warren Allen, OC Music Awards Executive Producer. The Allen’s purchased Orange County Music Awards in 2008 from former event producer, Martin Brown. Upon the purchase, the Allen’s changed the event name from “Orange County Music Awards” to “OC Music Awards” and hired the services of The ACE Agency and CEO, Ashley Eckenweiler, to assist in the strategy, direction and production of the event. Together the Allen’s and Eckenweiler developed OC Music Awards into a viable annual event that connects the entire Orange County music community and provides valuable opportunities and exposure for local musicians.


Luke Allen will remain involved as an active advisor for the 2012 event to ensure that the ownership transition is smooth. He will also remain on the Awards Academy and advisory board in years to come. Luke and Warren Allen have high hopes for the change of hands. “In order for the Awards to continue to grow and provide more opportunities for the local music community, the event needed the greater support system of an Agency behind it,” comments Luke. “We can’t think of a better company to acquire the event than The ACE Agency. Ashley has had such an integral roll in the success of the event since we took it over. I can’t wait to see how it continues to grow under the Agency’s direction.”


The ACE Agency has implemented strategic public relations campaigns, live music programming, and special events in Southern California since 2007. In addition to its role with OC Music Awards, the firm has been instrumental in the development of multiple local concert series including Orange County Museum of Art’s Orange Crush, Santa Catalina Island Company’s Catalina Live series, Kona Brewing’s Liquid Aloha Festival, and Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ Indie Bands series. “OC Music Awards is a natural extension of the work we do every day,” comments Ashley Eckenweiler, CEO of The ACE Agency. “It is a thrill to have even greater involvement in an event that brings such positive opportunities to the local music community. The Allen’s laid an amazing ground work and we are excited to continue to honor the legacy of local music.”


The 2012 OC Music Awards will be held at City National Grove of Anaheim on March 3 with the Showcase Series kicking off January 3 at Costa Mesa’s Detroit Bar.
