Create a Space for Community Engaged Creative Practice

Los Angeles, Calif. (Oct. 17, 2016) —As a recognized leader in community-engaged theater both nationally and internationally, Cornerstone Theater Company believes that art has the power to transform communities and change the world. Today, Cornerstone asks you to be a part of that transformation by voting for its proposal to build a shared space for community engaged creative practice for the communities of Los Angeles in the LA2050 Challenge. Voting is open online from October 18 – 25.

In a time of uncertainty, Cornerstone’s proposal for a Shared Space for Community Engaged Practice brings hope, possibility and conversation through art making, while bridging and bonding communities throughout Los Angeles.  In collaboration with like-minded individuals and organizations, your vote will help Cornerstone create a shared space filled with vibrant and diverse community-based approaches and projects. This space will create an environment from which communities of LA from all backgrounds can come together and engage in the study and practice of community-based work, civic discourse and art making.

“Now more than ever LA needs a space where communities can come together to explore vital issues while encouraging dialogue and healing through creative means,” commented Ilia Lopez, Director of Strategic Relations at Cornerstone Theater Company.
